In our culture and worldview, the word marketing does not occupy a very respectable place. Often people do marketing work until they find a better job. Nobody has the dream of specializing in this subject. We had spoken a few words on trading in previous writings. Marketing is the merchant's profession and is not loved. Nobody wants to give their daughter to the marketer, unless they want the girl.

Look at the picture in your mind when you say a marketer! I guess he's not a very nice guy. This word is coded with interesting concepts such as high lying potential, an unreliable attitude. Nobody writes a copyright on his business card. The investment advisor writes, the customer representative writes, but does not write "sales".

Marketing understanding has changed in the world. In the past, marketers would buy their products and sell them door to door. In this workflow, marketer and merchandise were at the forefront. The customer was uncritical, enough to be found door-to-door.

Sales and marketing

The focus of marketing has changed with the features that science has opened up to marketing. Sciences such as neuroscience and advancing psychology have revealed that people do not make much sense in their buying preferences. In other words, people did not buy the things that would make sense to buy, they did not establish a chain of logic in their decision-making process. Here, the era of the door-to-door marketer is over by buying a sensible material to buy. The salesman died, the salesman was born.

Now the word sales describes issues such as the supply, delivery of a product that is sold or in the sales process, or collecting orders from ready-made customers. We, as a country, are very good at this. Salesmanship is exactly this profession… But we are terrible at marketing.

What is marketing? It means selling the idea of buying a product, not a product. Marketers no longer take products in their hands and wander the streets, they prepare inspiring content about products or brands at the keyboard, and shoot commercials. Customers who decide to buy are already dealing with salespeople. Marketers are inspired to buy the idea for the customer.

Many neuromarketing experiments have shown how little logic takes place in people's purchasing processes, and people act with their emotions when purchasing. Psychology provided data on people's moods and the transitions between these mood states. Marketers have also sold these moods to people.

To sell a car, instead of building the logical car and telling people about it, they focused on making the car that feels best. Maybe just to convince people about this… A whole cosmetics industry is based on just this. Take a look at the perfume ads, which one has a logical proposition?

The marketing profession, the science of marketing, which we underestimate as a country and as a human being, was actually the basis of someone's domination over the world. This is not an actual domination I'm talking about, it's a mental domination.

Concept Marketing

They sold us their concepts before their products. They sold concepts about how a person should think, how to live, what he should tolerate and what he should bless, and which ones he chooses would be more happy. They changed our definitions. Ours and the whole world.

If you went back 150 years ago and you were teleported to three different regions of the world with a teleportation machine in your hand, would you understand where it was? Yes! There were huge differences between people living in America 150 years ago and people in Brazil, between those living in Russia and those living in Turkey in terms of clothing, culture and food. Now almost none. I do not think that we can produce very accurate predictions if the physical structures of people do not give you clues about where you are.

We bought the concepts first. Since we got the concepts, the products have grown so quickly. How common are your thoughts on money today with your grandfather's thoughts on this issue? The real question is; Where did you get your thoughts on money? What about career? Food? World? Aesthetic? Love?

Good Marketing

Marketing is not a bad thing. It is an attempt to gather people around the same feelings and thoughts. We also need good marketers. All professions. Directors, poets, painters, designers, entrepreneurs… Everyone should have an opinion on marketing. It must be so that we can first encode our words with our own values and transmit this to the world around us. Let's do a good marketing. Let's breathe a soul into the world with our concepts, ideas and culture. Let's be good marketers selling good intentions.
